Joining the Club


Can I try badminton before becoming a member?

Absolutely!

We understand that joining a new club can be a big step, so we are delighted to offer one complimentary trial session to anyone interested in joining Taghmon Badminton Club.

This gives you the opportunity to meet our members, experience a club night and decide if badminton is the right sport for you—with no obligation and at no cost.

If you decide to continue after your trial session, you'll simply complete our membership registration, and we'll register you with Badminton Ireland before you attend your next session.


Do I need to have played badminton before?

Not at all! We welcome complete beginners through to experienced players. Our club is friendly, inclusive and supportive, and we'll help you get started regardless of your experience.


What age can children join?

Our Junior Club is open to children aged 8 years and older.

Sessions are divided into two groups:

  • Primary School (Age 8+) – Tuesdays, 6:45pm–8:00pm 
  • Secondary School – Tuesdays, 8:00pm–9:15pm 

How do I join?

Joining is easy!

  1.  Complete our online membership form. 
  2.  Choose your membership option. 
  3.  Complete your payment. 
  4.  We'll review your application. 
  5.  We'll register you with Badminton Ireland. 
  6.  You'll receive access to our ClubZap app and all the information you need before your first session.

Is Badminton Ireland membership compulsory?

Yes.

All members of Taghmon Badminton Club must be registered with Badminton Ireland before taking part in club activities.

Badminton Ireland membership provides:

  •  Personal accident insurance 
  •  Official player registration 
  •  Eligibility to participate in sanctioned competitions 
  •  Support for the development of badminton across Ireland 
We'll complete your Badminton Ireland registration as part of your membership.


What membership options do you offer?

Please note: Badminton Ireland registration is compulsory before participating in any club session.


What does my membership include?

Your membership includes:

  •  Opportunities to represent the club in leagues and tournaments (where applicable) 

Can I pay in cash?

No. All memberships and payments are completed online through our secure payment system.

When do you play?

Adults

Monday
 7:30pm – 10:00pm

Juniors

Tuesday

Primary School (Age 8+)
 6:45pm – 8:00pm

Secondary School
 8:00pm – 9:15pm


How do I let the club know I'm attending?

Once you've become a member, you'll receive access to our ClubZap app.

Before each club night simply:

  •  Open ClubZap 
  •  Select the session 
  •  Click Attending
This helps our volunteers plan courts, coaching groups and numbers for each session.


What if I can't attend?

Simply update your attendance in ClubZap as soon as possible so we know not to expect you.


Can I just turn up?

If it's your first ever visit, you're very welcome to attend one complimentary trial session.

After that, all players must complete their membership and Badminton Ireland registration before attending again.

Existing members should mark themselves as Attending in ClubZap before arriving whenever possible.


Equipment


Do I need my own racket?

No. We have rackets available for beginners to borrow during their first few sessions.


What should I wear?

Please wear:

  •  Comfortable sports clothing 
  •  Non-marking indoor sports shoes 
  •  Bring a water bottle 

What shuttlecocks do you use?

Adult club sessions are played using quality feather shuttlecocks.

Junior sessions use shuttlecocks appropriate to the age and ability of the players.


Juniors


Are junior sessions supervised?

Yes.

Our junior sessions are run by trained volunteers and qualified coaches in line with our Safeguarding Policies.

The welfare and enjoyment of every child is our highest priority.


Are your coaches qualified?

Our coaches continually undertake Badminton Ireland coaching courses and safeguarding training to ensure our members receive safe, enjoyable and high-quality coaching.


Competitions


Do I have to play competitively?

No.

Many of our members simply enjoy badminton as a fun and social activity.


Can I represent Taghmon Badminton Club?

Yes.

Members may have opportunities to play in county leagues, tournaments and competitions depending on age, ability and availability.

Is there parking?

Yes. Free parking is available at the venue.


Do you have a club shop?

Yes.

Members can purchase club clothing and merchandise through our Club Shop.


How will I receive club updates?

Once you join, ClubZap becomes the club's main communication platform.

You'll use it to:

  •  Mark your attendance 
  •  View the club calendar 
  •  Receive club news 
  •  Register for events 
  •  Receive important notifications 
  •  Keep up to date with competitions and activities
