Membership & Payment Policy

Membership & Payment Policy – 2026/27 Season

1. Purpose

This policy explains the membership, registration and payment arrangements for Taghmon Badminton Club for the 2026/27 season.

By registering with the Club, members and/or parents/guardians agree to comply with Club policies, the Club Constitution and the rules and requirements of Badminton Ireland.

2. Badminton Ireland Registration

All players participating regularly in Taghmon Badminton Club must be registered with Badminton Ireland.

Badminton Ireland registration provides the appropriate affiliation and insurance required for participation in club badminton.

The applicable Badminton Ireland registration/insurance fee is included within the Club's annual membership fee where stated as part of the membership package.

A person cannot continue to participate in Club activities without the appropriate Badminton Ireland registration.

3. Annual Membership

Membership is valid for the 2026/27 badminton season and does not automatically carry forward to the following season.

Current membership options and prices are displayed on the Club's registration platform at the time of purchase.

Annual membership provides access to the relevant scheduled Club sessions for the member's age/category, subject to the Club calendar, hall availability, competitions, events and closures.

Membership does not guarantee a specific number of sessions where circumstances outside the Club's control result in cancellations or changes.

4. New Members & Trial Session

We welcome new players who would like to try badminton before committing to membership.

A new player may attend one complimentary trial session, subject to availability and prior agreement with the Club.

After the trial session, anyone wishing to continue attending must complete the appropriate Club membership and Badminton Ireland registration requirements before participating further.

A trial session does not constitute Club membership.

5. Junior Membership

Junior players must be registered by a parent or legal guardian.

The parent/guardian is responsible for ensuring that all information supplied during registration is accurate and kept up to date.

Junior players must meet the minimum age requirement applicable to the relevant Club session.

The Club reserves the right to allocate junior players to the session/group considered most appropriate based on age, ability, development and available capacity.

6. Adult Come & Play / Session Passes

Where offered, Come & Play sessions and multi-session passes are available to adult players only.

Players using these options must:

  • be aged 18 or over;
  • be appropriately registered with Badminton Ireland;
  • comply with all Club rules and policies; and
  • book/pay through the approved Club system where required.
Purchasing a Come & Play session or pass does not constitute annual Club membership unless specifically stated.

Passes are personal to the purchaser and may not be transferred or shared with another player.

7. Payment

Membership and other Club fees should be paid through the Club's approved registration/payment system unless alternative arrangements have been agreed by the Club.

Registration is not considered complete until all required information has been provided and payment has been successfully received.

Members should not attend on the assumption that an unpaid or incomplete registration has secured their place.

8. Places & Capacity

Some Club sessions may have limited capacity.

Where necessary, places may be allocated on a first-registered/first-paid basis or in another manner considered appropriate by the Club Committee to ensure sessions can operate safely and effectively.

Payment should not be made for a category for which the player is not eligible.

9. Club Calendar

The Club will publish its intended playing calendar for the season.

Dates may occasionally change because of hall availability, competitions, weather, unforeseen circumstances or other events outside the Club's reasonable control.

Members will be notified of significant changes through the Club's official communication channels.

10. Member Responsibilities

Members are expected to:

  • behave respectfully towards players, coaches, volunteers, officials and visitors;
  • comply with Club and Badminton Ireland policies;
  • follow safeguarding and health & safety requirements;
  • use Club facilities and equipment responsibly; and
  • follow reasonable instructions from Club coaches, volunteers and committee members.
Serious or repeated breaches may result in participation being restricted or membership being suspended or terminated in accordance with the Club's procedures.

11. Refunds

Membership fees, event fees, passes and other payments are subject to the Club's separate Refund Policy.

Members should review the Refund Policy before completing payment.

12. Acceptance

By completing a registration or purchasing a Club membership, the member — or parent/guardian in the case of a junior — confirms that they have read and agree to this Membership & Payment Policy and the other applicable policies of Taghmon Badminton Club.

Taghmon Badminton Club

Refund Policy – 2026/27 Season

1. Purpose

Taghmon Badminton Club is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit sports club.

Membership fees and other payments contribute towards costs including Badminton Ireland registration and insurance, hall hire, equipment, shuttles, coaching, administration and the general running of the Club.

For this reason, once a member has registered and the Club has committed costs on their behalf, refunds may be limited.

2. Membership Fees

A member who changes their mind after purchasing membership should contact the Club as soon as possible.

Where a refund request is received before the member has commenced regular participation and before non-refundable costs have been incurred on their behalf, the Club may provide a full or partial refund.

Once the member has begun attending Club sessions and/or their Badminton Ireland registration has been processed, membership fees will normally be non-refundable.

3. Badminton Ireland Fees

Where Taghmon Badminton Club has already registered a member with Badminton Ireland or otherwise incurred a non-refundable affiliation, registration or insurance cost on their behalf, this portion of the membership fee cannot normally be refunded by the Club.

Any refund offered will therefore be less any non-refundable costs already incurred.

4. Club Cancellation

If the Club cancels an event, programme or activity for which a separate fee has been charged, participants will normally be offered a refund or appropriate alternative.

Occasional cancellation or rescheduling of normal Club training sessions does not entitle annual members to a refund.

This includes cancellations resulting from hall availability, adverse weather, competitions, public safety considerations or other circumstances outside the Club's reasonable control.

5. Come & Play Sessions

Payments for individual Come & Play sessions are normally non-refundable once the relevant session has commenced.

Where a Come & Play session is cancelled by the Club, the player's paid session will carry forward to the next available Club training night.

6. Multi-Session Passes

Multi-session passes are personal to the purchaser and cannot normally be transferred to another person.

Unused sessions do not have a cash value and are normally non-refundable.

Where a scheduled Club training session is cancelled, the pass will simply carry forward and the cancelled session will not be deducted from the player's remaining sessions.

7. Events, Competitions & Coaching

Entry fees for tournaments, competitions, camps, coaching sessions or other special events may be subject to specific cancellation terms.

Where the Club has already incurred costs, confirmed entries, booked coaches, purchased materials or made other non-refundable commitments based on a participant's booking, some or all of the fee may be non-refundable.

Any event-specific refund terms displayed when booking will take precedence.

8. Duplicate or Incorrect Payments

Where a member has accidentally made a duplicate payment or has clearly been charged an incorrect amount, they should contact the Club as soon as possible.

Once verified, any amount paid in error will be refunded.

9. Disciplinary Matters

Where membership is suspended or terminated because of serious or repeated breaches of Club rules, codes of conduct or applicable policies, there is no entitlement to a refund.

10. How to Request a Refund

Refund requests should be submitted to Taghmon Badminton Club and should include:

  • the member/player's name;

  • the payment or registration concerned;

  • the date of payment; and

  • the reason for requesting the refund.

The Club Committee will consider requests fairly and will aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Where approved, refunds will normally be returned using the original payment method where practicable.

11. Committee Discretion

The Club Committee may consider exceptional circumstances not specifically covered by this policy.

Nothing in this policy is intended to affect any statutory rights a member may have under applicable Irish consumer law.
